Walking Backwards May be Good for Your Brain

LET'S GO FOR A WALK.

Sometimes, as a photographer, particularly while doing fast-moving or fast-changing events, it becomes vitally important to be able to move quickly to get out of the way when a scene unfolds unpredictably right before your eyes. Occasionally things will turn, and then action will come right at you. There might only be one choice that you can make, and that is to go backward. You still have to do your job, but you don't want to be trampled to death beneath whatever might come your way.

A retreat can be the best option, especially if you're still trying to get your desired shot. Sometimes walking backward is the only thing you can do while desperately trying to keep the shot in the frame of your camera.

Some medical journals have reported that the skill of walking backward is actually good for you and for your brain in particular.

I've always believed that this was true. I remember back in my early days of Jogging and Running, we would frequently walk or run backward and talk with one another as we took our backward steps down the road. It was always a relaxing break from running in that it used different muscles and skills. Who knew that it would be good for you. Some Asian Health Journals have been noted to encourage the practice to improve physical and mental health. Leave it to the Asian countries to make it a common practice. Well, I'm off for a backward walk.

Be seeing you . . .
